Important Notice: Beware of Impersonation (“Spoofed”) Emails and Fraudulent Requests to Change Bank Account Details

Thank you for your continued business and support.

We have confirmed that suspicious emails are being sent to our business partners by a third party impersonating employees of our company (a local subsidiary of the Yamazen Group), using fake email addresses (look-alike domains that closely resemble our legitimate domain). These emails request changes to remittance (bank account) details and are a form of Business Email Compromise (BEC) / impersonation fraud carried out by parties who have no connection whatsoever with our company.

To help prevent damage, we kindly ask all of our business partners to pay careful attention to the following points.

Points that require your special attention

  • If you receive an email claiming to be from our company (or a group company / our employee) that requests a change to a bank/remittance account, please first suspect that it may be fraud.
  • In such cases, please never reply directly to the received email. The reply address may be spoofed and your reply could reach the criminals.
  • To verify, please take the trouble to create a new, separate email and send it to a known, legitimate contact address at our company, OR confirm directly with the person in charge by telephone or messaging app.
  • Be especially cautious of wording that urges urgent payment (e.g., “urgent,” “by today”) and of requests to change to an unfamiliar account or an overseas account.

Examples of the fraud techniques used

  • Look-alike domains that are hard to distinguish at a glance (e.g., adding or replacing a single character in the legitimate domain) are used.
  • Emails may be sent using the name of a real person in charge, inserted into a genuine past email exchange.

If you receive a suspicious email, or if you may have already responded or made a payment, please refrain from taking further action and promptly contact our official point of contact by telephone.

We sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience this may cause our valued business partners, and we greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in preventing the spread of damage.
